Live Sessions London
Jrink Soho
What a top night! Thanks heaps for the great bunch of folks that came out. We all enjoyed a few drinks, the little light mobile phone spectacular and the all round good vibes in this lovely little bar. Top night. Photos to follow soon.

This evening ‘Other Side’ will be given a spin on BCB Radio’s ‘Going North from Nashville’ americana / alt-country show. The show runs for an hour from 10PM - you can listen via their website. Really looking forward to heading up north and playing a show for these guys in November too. If you do listen why not send them an email to say ‘yeehah’ for supporting real music.

“Little Light is a laidback journey with classic instrumentation. If you like the sound of the dobro, baritone guitar and flugelhorn, this album will make a nice addition to your collection of self released acoustic albums. Apparently Kris went through some hard times, but hey, he got some good songs out of it.”

“…showing off his emotional intensity in a song that rivals Ray LaMontagne for gravel throated rustic authenticity. The Little Light EP finds Kris Morris providing brief glimpses of huge potential, a release that when firing on all cylinders suggests this Australian singer/songwriter is capable of very impressive things.”

“Australian singer songwriter Kris Morris moved to London and has this EP on release containing five songs accompanied by three other musicians with instruments that include dobro, wurlitzer and flugelhorn. Loaded with angst, it opens with “Broken” and “Bigger Than Me”. Things loosen up with “Little Light”, while “Cling to You” and “Other Side” round off a journey into hope from someone who I think we will get to hear more of.”

The friendly folks at Room Thirteen wrote a lovely review on Little Light a little while back. They’ve also just put up a little interview that you may or may not feel like checking out.

New Wine Summer Conference
Royal Bath and West Showground,
Shepton Mallet,
Somerset
Had an awesome time taking house act duties for the Rendezvous venue at New Wine Week B. Was a great week in the sun chilling out, hanging with cool people, punching the odd mouse in the head, letting the beard fuzz out etc etc Musical highlights for me during the week were Cathy Burton (for her general down to earthness, super cool vibes and great tunes) and Doug Walker (for being the most hyperactive, big hearted, uber talented pop songster I’ve had the pleasure of having breakfast with). Everyone should buy Doug’s new single ‘Mystery‘. Big wraps to my new best mate Charlie Groves too who joined me for a couple of nights. Was a pleasure to get to know Charlie a little more and his songs are just fantastic. Buy his CD ‘Searchlight‘. I just had such a blast playing - the hustle bustle of the cafe made things real lively and fun - loved it.
Also big wraps to the staff from Toybox who ran the cafe. They served their hearts out and made me feel so cosy and at home. Looking forward to working with you guys more. Check out their website to find out more about the awesome work they do with street kids in Latin America.

TNT Eternal Summer Festival
Wow - had such a blast at the TNT Eternal Summer Festival down in Newquay. Really enjoyed getting to hang with the peeps from Outgoing, playing some chilled sets by the BBQ and on the beach, throwing some shapes on the dance floor at night and I even had a luxury caravan all to myself. A really top few days.
Check this slightly embarassing photo of me getting sunburnt playing by the beach. The outfit was not intended for style purposes. I think I’m becoming an englishman.

BBC Radio London
I had such a fun time on BBC Radio London’s “The Late Show” last night. I got in there at midnight, tuned up quickly and before I knew it I was playing a few tunes and having a good old chat with host Tessa Dunlop. The interview was a bit weird - I don’t think I was awake enough to make sense of it all. Good times though and I especially enjoyed the chaffeur ride home. That was awesome.
You can download the live take of ‘Little Light’ from the session here.

“…the vocal performance is spot on, as are the songs and general ‘feel’. The closest touchstone is Ray La Montagne and Little Light is well worth a listen if you’re into that pared back singer/songwriter angst genre.”
