Recording an Album

The brother’s Weeks and I are running away to the country to start work on an album. Its a real treat to have them behind me on this - they are amazing musicians and fantastic blokes. We’re going to have a total blast.

The songs have really come together too and I really feel I’ve got something to say with the album. Its going to be honest, gritty, loud, soft, raw, soulful, spiritual… it will be great to see how it all comes together. I hope it changes whatever part of the world it comes into contact with.

I’ll be trying to give some updates when we get going and show you how its all coming together. Can’t wait!

brill new photos

km_jrink.jpg

Some of you may remember a really top gig at Jrink in Soho back in September. You may also remember our friend Amy who was pointing a fancy camera around the place. Well as you can see from the shot above she took some fine photos - check them out and if you are in Oz and need a photographer give her a yell.

New Year’s Revolution

We’ve been working on a really special single that will be released first thing in the New Year. We’ve just got the first mix through but the few people that have heard can’t stop playing it. It is sounding hot - I really can’t wait for you all to hear it. There’s also been talk that things could be coming together to get the album project going for mid 2008 - exciting times!

Taking over the internet

So between this blog, MySpace, Twitter (which I don’t use much unless I’m bored on the tube), Vox (which has a fantastic music community), Sonic Bids and Facebook I spend more time updating websites than making music. In the interests of devoting my life to hijacking the internet for my own promotional purposes I’ve set up one these new fandangle Facebook musician profiles too. As most of the world seems to be on Facebook it seems like a good way for folks to keep in touch with my gigs and info while they are busy poking people and throwing sheep or whatever. So yeah - if you wanna look me up and become part of my little Facebook fan club visit the Kris Morris Facebook Page and click on “add music”. Feel the love.

Little Light on Burnside Writers Mixtape

Thrilled and honoured that Little Light has been chosen to be on the Burnside Writers Summer Mixtape. This is what they said about the track:

“Little Light from Kris Morris, reminded one of our editors of the sticky Louisiana summer nights of his childhood. The song’s power to invoke became even more remarkable when we learned that Morris is Australian-born and London-based and, as far as we know, has never lived in the bayou.”

Thats very true. I had to look up bayou on Wikipedia.

The other good news is that means you can download the track for free (as well as the other fantastic mix tape tracks) from here.

Little Light on last.fm

Yep, the Little Light EP is up on last.fm as of yesterday. If you’re on last.fm it will mean that every time you listen to Little Light it will help other folks find it. That can’t really be a bad thing.

The whole EP is also up there to stream on its own page so folks can check it out. So check it out. Yeah.

If you have not idea what last.fm is head over there and have a look. Its a great way to find cool music.

Making Little Light

Thought it might be cool to shed some light on what went into making the Little Light EP. I had the songs I wanted to record which I’d written through the last half of 2006. The songs sum up a season of my life which in some ways I’d prefer to forget but in retrospect I know did me a lot of good. Its a pretty honest little EP but there are glimpses of sunshine in there - just a little light you might say.
